ASA HUTCHINSON 2024 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

Securing the National Stage: Driving Donor Acquisition for Asa Hutchinson’s Presidential Campaign

The Situation

In the lead-up to the first Republican presidential debate on August 23, 2023 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Asa Hutchinson’s campaign faced a critical challenge. To secure a coveted spot on the debate stage, Hutchinson needed to meet the 40,000 unique donor threshold set by the Republican National Committee. With time running short and numerous lower-polling candidates vying for the same opportunity, Hutchinson’s team, Asa 2024, recognized the need for an effective marketing campaign to rally supporters and drive donor acquisition. To meet this pressing need, they contracted with our firm to devise and execute a strategic campaign aimed at propelling Hutchinson onto the national stage.

Actions

Faced with the challenge of attracting over 10,000 unique donors, with at least 200 donors from each state contributing a minimum of $1 to the Asa 2024 campaign, we devised a data-driven plan to target previous moderate Republican primary donors across the nation. Our strategy commenced with procuring reliable voter data on non-Trump donors and building an audience through one-to-one voter matching, achieving over a 90% match rate accuracy. We then executed a multi-channel digital marketing campaign to reach this curated audience, employing tactics such as display advertising, video pre-roll, connected TV, and social media promotions. Our messaging was carefully crafted based on poll-tested language resonant with our target demographics. To complement these efforts, we leveraged the power of direct SMS campaigns over a two-week period, allowing us to engage prospective donors in a personalized and timely manner.

Results

The multi-faceted digital marketing campaign yielded remarkable results, exceeding the donor acquisition goals set by the Asa 2024 team. Through our data-driven targeting strategies and compelling multimedia messaging, we successfully rallied over 42,000 unique donors to contribute to Hutchinson’s campaign. This accomplished the critical objective of surpassing the 40,000 donor threshold mandated by the Republican National Committee. Notably, our efforts ensured Hutchinson garnered at least 200 unique donors from each U.S. state, demonstrating a nationwide resonance with his messaging and platform. By achieving these benchmarks, the Asa Hutchinson campaign secured its well-deserved position on the pivotal first Republican presidential debate stage in Milwaukee on August 23, 2023. The remarkable donor engagement facilitated by our campaign provided Hutchinson with the opportunity to address a national audience and outline his vision for the nation. This pivotal debut on the primary debate circuit would not have been possible without the strategic digital initiatives that effectively mobilized support across the campaign’s target demographics.
